Gord Burns was awarded the prestigious George Knudson trophy for PGA of Canada`s National Teacher of the Year 2024. He was also named PGA of Ontario`s Teacher of the Year and Player of the Year, a memorable season!!

The 2024 season kept Gord Burns busy between chasing Monday qualifiers on the PGA Tour Champions , coaching his stable of competitive juniors , and competing regularly whenever there was a chance. The PGA of Ontario Player of the Year is based on a season long points race , and it came down to the last putt where Burns lipped out a birdie putt on the final hole to tie fellow PGA of Ontario professional Brad Kerfoot for co-honours of the coveted Bob Breen Trophy. Burns previously won this trophy in 2019 and has since wanted to win it again and was happy to share the trophy with Brad.

After 20 years in the golf teaching business, Gord Burns was awarded the PGA of Ontario Teacher of the Year Award, an honour that Burns was humbled by. This qualified him for the National Award going up against the best teachers form across the country. The awards committee of the PGA of Canada went through the nominees and awarded Gord Burns the George Knudson Trophy for Canada`s Teacher of the Year. Burns could not believe his eyes when he saw the results. “It`s such a thrill to be recognized by all your peers in the golf industry of the countless hours and dedication to improving the standard of play amongst golfers who come to me for lessons“Burns stated.
