Gord Burns Monday qualifies in back to back weeks on PGA Tour Champions and competes in the Rogers Charity Classic and The Ally Challenge this past August playing alongside the legends of the game, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Mark O`Meara and more.

After coming a respectable 5th place in the PGA of Canada Seniors Championship with scores of 62-71-71 for a 12 under par total in Quebec, Gord Burns flew to Alberta in hopes of Monday qualifying for his first PGA Tour Champions event on August 12th. After posting a score of 6 under 66, Burns had to wait in the clubhouse for the rest of the field to finish. 2 scores of 64 came in and Burns rounded out the 3 qualifiers as his 66 held up and he punched his ticket to compete in his first Champions Tour event at Canyon Meadows Golf Club in Calgary. With scores of 73, 73, and 68 , Burns was admittedly a little `star struck` and felt his tournament performance was not what he was wanting. In his last round, Burns was paired with former World Number 1 player Tom Lehman and was comforted as Tom offered some praise for Gord`s game saying, “I really like your game, keep on pushing forward with your efforts, I`d like to see you out here more“. Burns took those words to heart and found himself Monday qualifying the next week in Michigan for the The Ally Challenge with a score of 67 along with former University teammate Brad Adamonis. After a poor first round in the tournament 77, Burns found himself paired with Jim Furyk and Mark O Meara in round 2 and brought himself to come back strong with a 3 under 69 at the challenging Warwick Hills Golf Club (former host course to the Buick Open). In round 3, Burns was paired with former Masters and US Open Champion Angel Cabrera and Jeff Maggert, posting a respectable 1 under 71 in Round 3 to close out the tournament at 1 over par. Both of these experiences proved to be valuable for Burns as he continues his journey to play against the World`s over 50 best players in the years to come.
